ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR...

My name is Gary Sewell and I have been the Precision Machining Instructor at the Etowah County Career Technical Center for the past 19 years. My work experience began at the Birmingham Machine Shop where I worked for three years. It continued on to Siemans-Allis where I worked as a machinist/tool and die maker for 2 years. I worked for the next 9 years at Game Time/Playcore as a Tool and Die Maker and lastly at the Etowah County Career Technical Center. My education began at Gadsden State Community College and continued to UAB, Faulkner University, Jefferson State, and finally at Auburn University where I took necessary courses to highly qualify me to teach students in the area of Precision Machining Technology and Career Education. Making parts and teaching young people to see the finished product after hard work and determination is rewarding to me. Making a difference in their lives so that they can become self-supportive and productive members of society is a goal of mine each school year for my students.  My program has won 21state machining contest in 18 years of teaching.I teach manual machining as well as CNC which is two different contest at the state level.
