Early Childhood Education
Early
Childhood Education includes content that helps students learn to
direct and operate an early childhood education program. Topics
presented to students include: organizational structure, personnel
policies, rules and regulations, liability issues, principles of human
growth and development, interpersonal skills, developmentally
appropriate activities, individual and group activities, organization of
teaching materials and supplies, learning activity centers, lesson
plans, teaching aides, operating quipment, play and recreation
activities, dietary needs of children, preparing snacks and meals, child
health and safety, and community resources. The Etowah County Career
Technical Center operates a school-based day care program for 3 and 4
year old children to provide students with experiences that are
essential in developing skills necessary for teaching and caring for
children. This program provides a basis for several career options
including teaching, childcare, childcare management, and parenting.
