Construction Technology is a part of Architecture and Construction Career Cluster and the Power, Structure, and Technical Systems Pathway. The program is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills within a safe and appropriate workplace setting. The active, structured, and stimulating environment simulates the workplace setting and enhances the students' abilities to adapt to an ever-changing job market. Classroom and shop experience include: layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of structural units. Instruction emphasizes proper care, use and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment; common systems of frame construction; drafting, blueprint reading, estimating materials and costs, applied math and the use of computers. The successful trainee should have good eye sight, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
