I am Mr. Barry T. McNair, Electronics Technology Instructor at Etowah County Career/Technical Center.   Please allow me this opportunity to share how education has changed my life.  I never dreamed I would be gainfully employed in the Electronics Industry, much less an electronics instructor.  When I was in my teens, my destiny, or so I thought, was to be a pianist/musician, after having been classically trained on the piano since the age of five.  However, their was a "Great Plan" for my life that has since allowed me to have the greatest job one could ever imagine.  The gift of being selected as the Electronics Instructor for Etowah County began in 1989, when the program was developed.  As with all instructors, learning never ends and ongoing professional development is continually required to be successful in this industry of Electronics Technology.  At the Career Technical Center, the number one concern and instructional goal is the success of each and every student.  The Electronics Technology Course content includes, but is not limited too, electronic safety, soldering techniques, direct current, alternating current, solid-state fundamentals, digital electronics, advanced digital electronics,Robotics, computer maintenance/repair, electro-mechanical controls and introduction to mechanical electronics/smart relays.pneaumatics .  As an instructor, I am certified by ISCET (International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians),  ETA (Electronics Technicians Association) Certified and Exam Proctor, and BIC (Business/Industry Certified - State of Alabama) Certified.  As instructor I have received many honors over years,  However the one that meant the most was being selected as the Etowah County Secondary Teacher of the Year, 1995-96.  Although these awards were wonderful, the greatest reward has been the ongoing success of my students and knowing that I have been afforded the opportunity to change people, one life at a time.  It is my belief that all people have multiple talents, gifts, and abilities.  The discovery of these talents generally results in the success and happiness of the individual.  Electronics Technology is everywhere from the military weaponry to simple daily come and become a part of an ever changing world!!!!
