Engineering Design Technology
Overview
Engineering Design Technology provides information for students interested in drafting, manufacturing, engineering, and related fields. Students learn computer-aided drafting while learning about systems involved in the engineering research and design process. Students develop their understanding of basic scientific and mathematical principles used in problem solving through the engineering design process and get the chance to use machines such as 3D printers and laser engravers. These are required elective courses for most engineering fields.
Dual Enrollment courses are available to students through Gadsden State; which will go towards an Associates Degree in Mechanical Design Technology at Gadsden State.
All programs at the Etowah County Career Technical Center are business/industry certified by the Alabama State Department of Education or by private certifying agencies. The trade and industry programs have articulation agreements with all community colleges in Alabama, in which program completers may receive free college credit toward a degree for the particular skills in which they received training while attending high school. Many program completers receive scholarships to colleges or technical institutes for continued training, as well as job placement opportunities.
